Naperville Bughouse Academy
About Us
Naperville Bughouse Academy is the brain child of two highly motivated teens from Naperville North High School chess team. We train very hard for bughouse / tandem chess and would love train your child for bughouse tournaments.

We finished second at the K-12 Nationals Bughouse Championship held at Columbus Ohio in 2018.
​
Bughouse/ Tandem chess is a popular chess variant played on two chess boards by four players. Normal chess rules apply, except that captured pieces on one board are passed on to the teammate on the other board, who then has the option of putting these pieces on his or her board.
​
The game is usually played at a fast time control; this, together with the passing and dropping of pieces, can make the game look chaotic and random to the casual onlooker.

Our mission is, "Checkmate for a Cause". We believe in creating a strong, compassionate society where each individual is a star in their own way. We strive to build individuals who can learn from each other and be a compassionate friend, and guide to one another. We chose chess as a platform to bring about this positive change to our community.
We partner with Suicide Prevention Services (SPS). The organization strives to save lives and restore hope through prevention and intervention, using education, advocacy and collaboration.
